I proposed this topic for my task. “Patchouli oil extraction using ultrasonic extraction method”. In this research, Patchouli oil is extracted from dried Patchouli (Pogestemon Cablin) leaves. I’m going to promote that Patchouli essential oil is primarily used in the perfumery industry and has a very high commercial value due to its therapeutic properties. The method used in this research to extract this patchouli oil is ultrasonic extraction method. I hope that u will approve my topic and I will do with my reading & research for this topic from now. This topic is really interesting for me and I ever read about Patchouli oil before. Recently, this essential oil has high demand all over the world due to its usages in the daily life.
Adriana, I don't quite understand your question. But, I'll try to answer.
1. You should come up with your own topic and it has to be in your area of study.
2. What you need to bring on Thursday is just the form on page 18. But, for the assignment that you need to submit in week 10, you have to write a literature review of about 3-5 pages. You can refer to page 16 for the format of the assignment.

This experiment aims to search and study the feasibility of ultrasonic application in distillation column and separation efficiency of ethanol-water mixture. Previous study has shown that ultrasonic can alter the azeotrope point of ethanol-water mixture.

madam, for my individual task about patchouli, actually i will perform & reveal in my lit review about patchouli's chemical properties, physical properties, patchouli's planting, patchouli's harvesting, factor effect patchouli's growth, problem during planting & etc. all of this items is that same with my senior at previous? if all of this items would be the same, its ok. i will find the other topic. on Thursday we will discuss again.

2. Basyirah, I think it is ok for you to do patchouli oil extraction. It doesn't matter really, if the topic is the same as your senior's. As you mentioned earlier, patchouli oil is highly demanded, so, naturally, it will be a popular topic chosen by students to research on. It is the way you write your lit. rev that will make a difference.

The research studies the transesterification of palm oil via heterogeneous process using montmorillonite KSF as heterogeneous catalyst. The transesterification process variables are reaction temperature, reaction period, methanol/oil ratio, and amount of catalyst. Is this topic acceptable?

Title: REMOVAL OF MERCURY FROM GAS STREAMS BY OXIDATIVE MEMBRANE
Objectives: Mercury is one of contaminants and hazardous element found in variety of gas streams.
Emission of it should be avoided as it can affect human 'reproduction system'. Unfortunate for chemical engineers who work at the offshore and at the refinery. They are exposed to this.
By choosing this title, I hope to learn more about the removal of mercury subject. One of FKKSA award winning research recently was 'Removal of Mercury by Pseudominas Putida'.

For my individual task I proposed the topic biodiesel from micro algae beats bioethanol. Renewable biofuels are needed to displace petroleum derived transport fuels, which contribute to global warming and are of limited availability. Biodiesel and bioethanol are the two potential renewable fuels that have attracted the most attention. As demonstrated here, biodiesel and bioethanol produced from agricultural crops using existing methods cannot sustainably replace fossil-based transport fuels, but there is an alternative. Biodiesel from microalgae seems to be the only renewable biofuel that has the potential to completely displace petroleum-derived transport fuels without adversely affecting supply of food and other crop products. Most productive oil crops, such as oil palm, do not come close to microalgae in being able to sustainably provide the necessary amounts of biodiesel. Similarly, bioethanol from sugarcane is no match for microalgal biodiesel.

i proposed this topic for my literature review,Mixing efficiency of a multilamination micromixer with consecutive recirculation zones.
the objective of this study is to determine the mixing efficiency and how to enhance it by adding recirculation zones to a mixer.To assist the mixing by fluid action, a series of recirculation zones were added to the mixing chamber. The effectiveness of the recirculation zones on mixing was estimated through a numerical simulation which indicated the dependence on Reynolds number.

Madam, for the individual task, I am choosing this title; Refining of biodiesel by ceramic membrane separation as my assignment. The objective of this research is to find a better way to refining biodiesel and minimizing wastes. Can I start doing my assignment ma'am?
Jaya, in your topic, you said that you want to refine biodiesel using ceramic membrane separation. But in your objective you want to find a better way to refine biodiesel. Does "better way" here mean "ceramic membrane separation"? or something else? Not quite clear here. And how does minimising waste relate to your topic?
Hmm...yup..the ceramic membrane is the better way. Because currently people are using water washing process in refining biodiesel which consumes water and the waste product is water itself. So this ceramic membrane separation process doesn't consumes water. Therefore, it is a better way and it reduces the usage of water and reduces water as a waste material.
Jaya, mmmm... so, if you already know that ceramic membrane is the better way and it can reduce water as waste material, then.. what exactly that you want to study here? Will there be a comparison or something?
No. Theorically I think it's a better way. But still experiment and researches should be done to prove it. Am I right madam?
