The first official Rugby world cup was first held in 1987 and hosted by Australia and New Zealand, and was won by New Zealand. The world cup trophy was named after Webb Ellis.

After that the International Rugby Football Board (IRFB) decided to conduct it every 4 years. The tournament then became the fourth largest national sporting team’s tournament in the world.

In 1999 it becomes bigger as there are 65 nations attempted in the qualifying round. In 2003 England became the first northern hemisphere nation to win the rugby world cup.

Personal opinion:

I like to watch sports on TV and Rugby are one of those sports. But not playing it, rugby is too physical for me.

I love to watch sport generally because I like to watch their spirit and never say die attitude in the game, it give some me some motivation indirectly. Watching sports also for me are better than my sisters preference of soap operas on TV at home.

If you asked me with sport I love the most then it will be: racing (motorsports). Put my foot on the gas pedal for me is a pleasure and I love to drive at Karak highway, entertaining its every bend and corner is a pure sensation.

Its my dream to join the Grand Touring – GT someday. (Right now only limited playing it at arcade)

I also like to play table tennis. I used to play it every evening with my friends at Bilik TV KK2 until the Ping Pong table was taken away last two weeks.

Dear Dyat,
1. the summary is a bit too long, but I praise you for your effort.
2. Yes, I agree with you... sports can lift our spirit and motivation. But, what is wrong with watching soap opera? don't you watch drama series? Korean, for example?
3. Driving can be a pleasure, but speeding ticket can be a bother! If you are really into driving on highways, go to Germany and drive on the Autobahn. See if you'll like it there.

uhl4032 said...

Dear Azzaruddin, I thought the purpose of sports is to move and be active, not to relax. Badminton is also a game that requires you to move a lot and to use up a lot of energy. You can't just stand at one place and expect to hit the shuttlecock!

Rugby is a rough sport that accidentally created. This sport then reorganized and have been add new inventions by William Webb Ellis to make it a real sport. Then after being played and add few rules, in 19th century many Rugby players were taking pay for their effort. The Northern Rugby Union, a professional organization wanted their rugby player recomposed because they use a lot of time to play in this game from their jobs. Then this game have been an international game played by 15 men as 1 group in amateur game and 13 men as 1 group in professional game. They play in a league that called as Rugby League. Rugby league proposed that this game approve as part of world sporting event but the International Rugby Board rejected this idea. This idea then been improved and approved to be implemented after 1980. In 1983, Australia proposed to held the first rugby world cup. The official world cup was held in 1987 with New Zealand in the latter (the All-Blacks) emerging as the first world champions. In 1991 Wold Cup, Australian rugby team grabbed the tournament trophy. South Africa hosted the 1995 rugby world cup and South Africa get victory in the rugby world cup that year. The tournament attracted thousands of spectators from far and wide and it has now become a much-awaited game for its fans

Personal opinion:

I've played this game once and i admit it is a rough games. Men get honour to play this game. Once in Greek times, Zeus approve this game to be played by men only. It call as Men-game in greek time and it just an ancient history well-known by rugby players.
I like this game because it challenge men's strength and speed. This is the only way men can express their anger and law can't do anything about it. In order to keep this game safe, safety measurement are first priority in making laws for this game. I've stop playing this game because it's not really safe to be played in long time. Inch by inch player bones can move from the place it should be. With high impact of momentum in order to grab the ball, one have to know way to control their body ability before it's to late.

The 1999 rugby world cup was hosted by Wales with matches played in England, France, Scotland and Ireland. England wins in a pulsating final in Sydney against the host nation, Australia, in 2003.

Personal opinion:
I like to play rugby. Although this game seems like dangerous sport, it was nothing to me. Actually, this sports it not dangerous like we thought. I say that because I play rugby also. Although my body thin and small, I never get injured when play this sport. This sport has technique like other sport. We cannot get injured so easily when we play this game. This game was so much fun in other game like football, swimming and other because when we play this game we can get such a feel that we want play again and again. When we get injured when play this game, it not the time that we stopped play this game but it will give us the spirit to play this game again. If you don’t believe what I say, you can try playing this game and feeling yourself.

Personal Comment

In my opinion, rugby is an international game. As written in the text, rugby does bring colour and vibrant to the world of sports. It is a rough game and the players are well build. But I am not into rugby that much because it seems boring. For me, I prefer sports entertainment such as the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). With characters such as John Cena, Undertaker and Rey Mysterio, I think its alot fun and I enjoyed watching my favourite sports in television.

SUMMARY OF STORY OF RUGBY

A Rugby game is recognizing when a boy at Rugby school in Warwickshire first defies the rules of football by picking up the ball and running with it towards the opposing goal. Matthew Bloxam who had attended Rugby between 1813 and 1820, his recollections are being set down some 60 years after he left. He describes the ball game played in the Close, and specifically recalls that, among its few rules, was the stipulation that “no one was allowed to run with ball in his grasp towards the opposite goal”. Many rugby players were taking pay their efforts, although the practice was not generally accepted. The Northern Rugby Union, a professional organization, was formed in 1895 by a group of clubs that wanted to recompense their players for time taken from their jobs while fulfilling playing engagement. This organization was renamed as Rugby Football League in 1922. In an amateur game, 15 men will be play on each team and called as “Rugby Union”. They fought for the game to be part of the world sporting events. The first Rugby World Cup was played in Australia and New Zealand, with the letter (the All-Blacks) emerging as the first world champions. The successful of Australian world cup motivated the International Rugby Football Board (IRFB). What started as defiance now turns into a world sporting events that rough the good and bad times.
According to my opinion, I think that rugby is one of the hard games. Players must have high stamina to play it. It is because, the court size is huge and the beat team is tough usually. As an example our UMP rugby players, in MASUM 2007/2008 they have lose badly when versus UPM players. From the survey, I have found that our players’ stamina is not good as them. Other is our players’ physical is not good like them. Rugby also needs high self motivation because we need to stay in calm even though the match team is great.
I do like rugby games because I can get fit body when I play it but as long as you know, I am a girl. It is impossible girl like me can play it in Malaysia. Furthermore, I also short and I do not have fit body to play that sport. I have lot of friends play this games. They said that this game is not hard to play and learn about the rules but I need to be serious when once I get there. It is because a discipline is very important in this game. Now, I just asking my friends about this game and they are excited to tell me about the game especially about their last match.

I think for sure this game is the way of men expressing their anger in kind of safe way. ( I think it safe).

Dear Jaya, I heard there are many entertainment wrestlers who committed suicide. It is an irony that they wrestled and seemed to hurt themselves a lot in the ring, but in the end committed suicide to end their lives.
And I don't think we have to worry about about Suhaimi getting trashed by other players, as he said, the danger of the game is nothing to him... and he knows the technique well to avoid from getting injured.

Dear Seri, maybe one day you'll get the chance to play rugby.

Dear Limun, WHO ARE YOU? and where is your personal opinion on rugby?

Personal opinion:
To be honest, I did not know anything much about rugby. I’d always thought rugby and American football were the same sports with different terms in different countries, but I was wrong. I was surprised to find out that the rugby players do not wear the same costumes like the American footballers, examples like helmets and shoulder protectors. Anyhow, I am sure that rugby would not be in my list of favorite sports, because it looked so extreme and dangerous. I do not like to make myself sweaty just for the sake of running and chasing an oval ball around the field. I preferred sports which require less energy and more relaxing like cycling and bowling. I am also fond of mind sports like strategy board games especially chess.

Summary:
The article “Story Of Rubgy” is about the legend and the founder of one popular world’s sport game, rubgy. The idea started with a boy at a Rugby school "who disregard for the rules of football, first took the ball in his arms and ran with it towards the opposite goal”. Due to this matter, William Webb Ellis credits this innovation by posting a written letter to the school newsletter. At first, the sport is just a amateur game and was not generally accepted. Because of this there is no specific standardization for this game, hence, there are some differences in the laws and number of players for certain places and organization. With the formation of the Rugby League, they tried hard to get the Rugby game as the world sporting events. They get the ideas of commencing a tournament. The Australia’s proposal to make the first Rugby world cup finally succeed with the support from England, Wales, New Zealand and France. With the first Rugby World Cup played in Australia and New Zealand, the International Rugby Football Board (IRFB) decided to conduct it every 4 years. It than became the fourth largest national sporting team’s tournament in the world. Started as a defiance, now the Rugby has turns into a world sporting events that a much awaited game for its fans.

Personal Opinion
In my opinion, Rugby is a popular sports because it is perhaps the most pure contact sport. For me, the Rubgy is a very tough sport to play because it needs high stamina to play. I get a chance to involve in this game once during my secondary school, I can tell you, it’s very tough and tiring. I’m not get into the games like the football and rugby. Why make yourself so difficult just because of one ball. It depends on people. Maybe for them this one it is a “ satisfaction”. For me, I prefer the simple sport like jogging. It doesn’t need lots of people. You can make it by yourself. Simple and easy.

I have read about this sport and also seen in television. I like this sport because of strength to fight and bring the ball towards the opposing goal. Rugby is a hard and aggressive game that attracts the other competitors. It different with the other games which is catch and throw the ball to the others. But rugby game is easy to follow which is we can understand the rules and appreciate when we become familiar with a few simple principle of play. Other than that, everyone can play rugby whether you are thin or fat, tall or short, every person can enjoy this game. And also everyone can play all the position for every body types. After I’ve seen this game it’s actually more fun than football game. It’s just a game… enjoy and have fun.

I realize that now, maybe the text on rugby is not suitable since most of you are not really interested in this game. Anyway, just for the sake of adding up knowledge, I guess there's nothing wrong to read about it. A few years back I used to teach an all-boys-group of mechanical students . There were about 30 of them and more than 20 were rugby players for UMP. So, I thought youngsters as you are, like this type of sport. Thanks for your comments, I now know that I should not generalise my assumption.

I love Rugby not because of I can hits people, but I love this game because of the team working and the discipline among players are the most wonderful part in this game. I have the experiences competing in few tournaments. Although we were not score the top, but at least I can feel that Rugby is not the game that you can imagine. Truly, Rugby is not like other sports, Rugby is a 'man' game which every players will try to hits as much as they can to get the ball from their opponent. Its simple to explain, in the soccer game, if you hits your opponents, you will fight back and surely there will be a fight but in Rugby as long as you are not break the rule or the referee does not blow the vessel, you can hits your opponents in the right place. That makes me feel I'm a real man if I can hits people and compete for the ball to score points for my team. Now, in UMP I just a silent fan of Rugby and I don't have the desire to involve actively in UMP Rugby team. I hope that one day our national rugby team, well known as Cobra, will qualify to Rugby world cup and fight with my favorite team, All Black.

Dear madame, sorry for being late to post my comments. I have tried to post twice yesterday but seems that my comments doesn't appear. Maybe I made mistake during posting my comments.

Dear Rizuwan,
1. what are you doing at 2am? Aren't you supposed to be sleeping at this hour?
2. World Cup? Is it next year? Where? I'm not really into football, but I watched World Cup 2002 (the one in Japan). I got the chance to watch that one because the time difference between Japan and Malaysia is just 1 hour, so, when the game was on, the time was also convenient for us here to watch.

Dear Jessico, why don't you play rugby for UMP? And yes, I like All Black too. But I think this team was unlucky during the last world cup. Earlier in the competition they did not get the chance to play against stronger teams. So, towards the end they did not manage to show their best performance. But, I think this has always been the case with All Black. They are the mighty ones in other leagues, but not World Cup. It's like there's a curse or something that they could not win.... well... maybe in the next world cup.

haha...my friend ask me to come for a training last year bur I don't have my butt. uhmmm I like to play but I do not going for a training for a long time.Rugby players need a training continuously for their fitness. You can imagine if I fail to come for a few days because of time (classes and so on). My fitness also down and I don't think that I can hits people (opponents) in my real condition today. About All Black, they failed to reach the final world cup last season because of luck. Like what I have mentioned above, team working is the most important thing during the game. Without it even your team is tough and skillful, your team will not able to compete in such grand competition. I'm sure if my team (as an example) will face All Black in the grand competition like World Cup, I'm sure I will give my fullest. Because of what, if I manage to beat such a strong and popular team, my team will be so proud. Same with you, I hope that the next coming world cup, All Black will be the champions.

In my opinion rugby is very difficult to play because have many rules and laws.It just for men's sports and it is need higher physical strenght and not suitable for women.

For me,I did'nt like rugby because it's rough sport and i have never watched this sport even on the television.I like volley ball because it very easy and no much rules to play this sport.

This article is about rugby which is one of the most popular sport games in the world. It was founded when a boy at Rugby school in Warwickshire first defied the rules of football by picking up the ball and running with it towards the opposing goal. . Matthew Bloxam is one of the person who describes the ball game played in the Close, and specifically recalls that, among its few rules, was the stipulation that “no one was allowed to run with the ball in his grasp towards the opposite goal”. Although it resembles the amateur game in many respects, there are differences in the laws, or rules, and only 13 players on a team. The Rugby World Cup is indeed a game that adds colour and vibrant to the world of sports

My opinion about rugby game…

For me rugby is one of the popular sports in the world. I always watch it on television and read about it newspaper. It’s a quite tough sports and not suitable for me to play. In other words it’s only suitable for men. Although it’s suitable for men, but this sport need men who physically strong enough and tough. I don’t like rugby because it’s too violent and risky to have injury, but one part of the rugby games that I inspire is their courage and spirit of teamwork.

Sports that I like…

I like netball and I love to play it. I play it since I in primary school. The position that I always play is goal shooter. For me its give me satisfaction when I can shoot the ball and give point to your team. It’s a teamwork game and need full commitment from other player.

Personal opinion.

Honestly, im not interested about this game and I really don’t know anything about this game. For me, this game is very tough and also too rough. I ever seen this game in television and I am shocked when I’ve see that the entire players try grab roughly the ball from the other players and their performance at field make me scare. Why they choose this game? This game is really not safe , everyone become tired because they use a high stamina and everyone tend to become injure. It’s hard for me to give a correct answer. Everyone have their own reason. This game is not suitable for me especially for women as well. If given an optional, I prefer a game that more relaxing, enjoy and what the most important is I can safe my body. For instance, bowling, chest, badminton and sometimes I like to play computer game that needs more thinking. I really enjoy with it rather than rugby or other game that need high stamina.

Dear Noor Asyikin Bt Ahmad Shuhaimi

Then you must watch rugby at least once. Its not wrong if we know a lot about thing that we never wish to know. But if you're not like a rough game, what should I say then. Yeah volley ball also smart. But you didn't mention what type or which volley ball discipline that you like.
Have you ever played volley ball before..? Sorry for asking to much.

personal opinion;

rugby was ok to me.i've watched a lot of rugby movie such as the game plan and the longest yard.this kind of game require not only a physical strength, also mentally.i think this game is quite interesting because all players on the field, regardless of position, must be able to run, pass, kick and catch the ball.this game also need the brain who planning on strategy on bringing the team to victory.it's a wise game even though very rough sport.
p/s: i wonder whether football and rugby were the same..

In December 1880, the evidence that the game of rugby was founded when a boy, William Webb Ellis at Rugby school in Warwickshire first defied the rules of football rests on a letter written by an OR (Old Rugbeian) to the school newsletter, the Meteor. A professional organization, The Northern Rugby Union, was formed in 1895.This organization was renamed the Rugby Football League in 1922.. The history of Rugby World Cup begins at 1950 but it was rejected on 1968 by Rugby Board. In 1983, Australia put a proposal that mentioned their willingness to host the first rugby world cup and after a few discussion and votes they decide to start the Rugby World Cup on 1987. The first-ever Rugby World Cup was played in Australia and New Zealand which was held from May 22 to June 20, with 32 matches and New Zealand winning the final rugby match. Because the success of the first edition of Rugby World Cup, it motivated the International Rugby Football Board (IRFB) to conduct it every four years, and it conduct by Great Britain, Ireland and France at 1991 and Australian rugby team grabbed the tournament trophy. South Africa hosted the 1995 rugby world cup and Wales on 1999. Again Australia hosted the Rugby World Cup at 2003. Today, the game enjoys its greatest popularity in Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France and all the country around the world.

personal coment:
I my opinion to play rugby the players should have a good stamina and good team working, because in order to be a good player all the players should trust their group member to ensure the strategy work smoothly. I do not like rugby because I think these sports are cruel and it can make me injured. I prefer to cycling or playing badminton during my leisure time because this sport not really hard to me.
